Krups FND111 Allegro Espresso Maker Krups Allegro Espresso Maker FND111 is designed for people seeking an affordable espresso machine that’s quick and simple. Easy to operate 4-bar steam espresso maker makes espresso, cappuccino and latte. The steam nozzle froths milk and is controlled by the oversized dial. The removable tray is dishwasher safe for easy clean up, and the compact size takes up little counter space. Customer Review: Same as awful $29 version! After seeing this, I went to a store to look at it. I can’t find anything that makes it better than a cheap $29 model Krups also made. I used to own that one. It is a below-average machine. There are also some dangerous flaws in it. The machine never could make decent espresso. It runs the temperatures too high and scalds the coffee. The frother clogs very easily and is difficult to clean. Worse, the cap is cheap plastic. After about six months, it warps and is difficult to screw on. The threads on the cap are NOT metal so it could lose pressure. It is inconsistent: some days it made OK espresso, other days, it just produced a sandy dark brown “espresso” that just tasted burnt. Finally, there is one dangerous flaw: for best results, you have to warm up the machine by running water through it once. Even after venting it (and the instruction book doesn’t mention this!), you have to drip a little bit of water into it and a deadly puff of steam blasts out of the top. You have to do this before you put the water in once the machine is warmed up. BUT, the manual doesn’t mention this. Can’t believe they haven’t been sued yet, but everyone carries this machine: Target, Wal-mart, Sears, etc. In the end, it is not worth it. You have to pay more for a decent machine and the old saying you get what you pay for applies here. Don’t drop below $99. Customer Review: Very poorly engineered product Many times, I have read the snooty hype about how a pump espresso machine is better than the steam type. So, I invested $300 in a good pump machine, and now it sits unused in my garage. The steam espresso comes out stronger and richer tasting and takes much less time and effort to make. Give me one of these cheapo machines over one of the fancy ones any day!

Krups FNC3 Novo 3000 Premium Pump Espresso/Cappuccino/Latte Maker For homemade, professional-quality cappuccinos and lattes, it takes a pump-style, continuous-pressure espresso machine to do the job right. The Krups FNC3 Novo 3000 Premium espresso maker fills that bill, and it looks darned good while doing it. The handsome black and stainless steel unit is compact but robust, with 1000 watts of power behind its high-pressure pump. A patented Thermobloc pressure system provides evenly sustained pressure for consistent espresso shots. The one-liter water reservoir provides multiple shots of espresso without needing to be refilled; when it is time to refill the tank, it’s removable to make it easier. In addition to a traditional milk-steaming arm, there is an automatic cappuccino system for perfect frothing with no mess.
There are two filter holder arms: one for loose, ground espresso; the other for pre-portioned Easy Serving Espresso pods. 18 Illy brand E.S.E. pods are included with the espresso maker. The pods, which provide consistently excellent espresso shots, are widely available and can be from any compatible brand, so long as they are E.S.E. standard. On top of the unit is a stainless steel cup-warming tray; below the brewing area is a drain tray with stainless steel filter platform. A hot water function allows for preparation of tea, cocoa, or other hot beverages.
Unplug the espresso maker before cleaning. Always wash espresso machine accessories by hand, as those items are not dishwasher-safe. When making multiple espressos, the removable drip tray should be emptied after about every 7 to 8 espressos. The brewing head and steam nozzle should be wiped with a damp cloth after each use; if the brewing head becomes clogged, unscrew to remove and clean it. The Krups FNC3 espresso maker measures 8-1/4 by 9-1/2 by 11 inches. Krups guarantees it with a one-year limited warranty. A detailed instruction booklet with verbal and visual directions comes with each espresso maker. Additional instructions are found on the underside of the water tank lid. –Garland Withers Customer Review: Works pretty well with ESE pods I have not had much luck using this with real ground espresso. The usual problems, either very little espresso or none at all. A soupy mess when trying to empty the coffee. Perhaps I just don’t tamp or grind very well!
